Dinosaur Poetry

Sophie's Reptilian Poetry

Limerick

Jack of One Trade
There once was a tyrant king
It’s motive: savage killing
Teeth sharp, claws heavy
A flow of water with no levee
But alas, from its throne, another shall sing.

Prose

Utahraptor
The biggest raptor on earth
Feathery, soft
Looking quite nice
Until you saw those claws
Jumping from trees
About a ton
Onto a iguanodon
You better run!

Rhyming

Misconceptions
Velociraptor was quite tiny
As tall as a human’s knee
You will see
If you look right in front of me!

Scavenger, Ravager
Deinonychus didn’t hunt
It was a scavenger,
Wouldn't be seen on the battlefront
It was a ravager,
Not very strong, to be blunt.

Alliteration / tongue twisters

Racing Raptors
Sunny rays, streaking down
Before the race, raptors hardly made a sound.
Now they’re racing with their prey
Riling Dilos on the way

Haiku

Struthiomimus
Long legs, small, no teeth,
Herbivorous, feathery,
With a beak and arms.

Cretaceous
Conifers, feathers
Theropods and Sauropods
Agile dinosaurs

Cinquain

Going out for Groceries
Fast, smart,
Hunting, running, fighting,
Winning their fights
Utahraptor mother and father

Blue
Agile, perfect
Clinging, Basking, Hiding
Climbing on my finger
My Pet Dragon
